Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. (Psalm 33:20 ESV)
In today’s surroundings, one of the hardest things to do is wait while time is speeding away and there is much to do. You are in a rush to be somewhere by a certain time in order to fulfill an obligation. On the other hand, you get in the short line at the drive-thru and the person in front of you has numerous transactions to complete. These can easily cause frustration on your part or even worse cause your blood pressure to rise. Just as slowing down and waiting in your daily routine is better for your physical health, God desires you to wait on Him for your spiritual health. He wants you to slow down, to pause, and consider what He has done for you. Reflect on His creation that surrounds you, the wonder of birth that replenishes the world with life, sharing of love with others, and the saving of your soul. As you ponder all the Lord has done think of that which blesses you as you recall the times in your life God enabled you to do an amazing task that you would never have believed could have been done. While you labor in this life, remember God is a co-laborer with you. He lifts you up when you feel as if you cannot go on. God gives you strength and purpose to do that which He desires. Always keep in mind that in everything, God is sovereign and in this, he always will know what is best for you. God loves you and will protect you from things He wants you protected from and that which He wants you to have knowledge of, the Father will move His loving hand away so you may learn from these experiences. Remember even when you do not feel God’s loving hand about you, wait on Him and you will begin to see the work going on around you and know that God will direct and protect you as you commit your life to Him and His work.
For Thought:
1. Do you know the tempter will work to keep you busy in order to hinder your Kingdom work?
2. Do you ever take time to “smell the roses”?
While spending time with God, simply bow you head and ask God to show you how to trust Him and rely on His strength day in and day out. Be still and listen for God speaking through your surroundings or through your heart. Pray for direction as you learn to wait on the Lord.
I will wait for the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him. (Isaiah 8:17 ESV)
