And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 ESV)
Just as the Old Covenant fathers Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Isaac pleased (walked with) God, you too, can walk with God because of your faith. It is faith that brings you to the point of knowing and believing God to be who He said He is. The Lord does not have to explain his existence to you or anyone else and the Bible say’s that before there was any created order there was God (Gen. 1:1). When Moses asked who he should say sent him, Moses was told to say, “I AM” sent you (Exodus 3:14). This belief in God brings you to the point of belief in Jesus as His Son, thus it is one of the basic doctrines of Christian Faith. Because of faith, the desire to please God is in all you do and as you seek to please God, your relationship becomes closer with Him. As you grow in your relationship with God, rewards will come to you, not material or financial rewards but eternal rewards. These rewards are of joy and peace; they are rewards of fulfillment and purpose in life. You find out that nothing else matters except pleasing God and the joy of being with Christ. Worship that is pleasing to God is worship in spirit and truth (John 4:23). This is what the rewarder, Jesus, gives to you. It is a continual cycle. As you please God by drawing near to Him, you receive rewards from the Son that are pleasing to you.
For Thought:
1. Are you seeking God and desiring to please Him?
2. Do you see that the greatest reward from Jesus is Salvation of your Soul and when you fully understand you will seek Him more?
While seeking the Father in your quiet time ask Him to bring to your mind the concept of being pleased yourself as you please Him. Tell the Father you wish to please Him with your heart, body, and soul in everything you do and ask the Creator of all there is to teach you in this endeavor.
“Therefore, worship that pleases God is the hedonistic pursuit of God. He is our exceeding great reward! In His presence is the fullness of joy, and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore. Worship is the feast of Christian Hedonism.” – Desiring God, John Piper page 102, copyright 1986, Multnomah Books.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13 ESV)
