[14] For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:14 ESV)
The work Jesus did for you on the Cross was to create peace between God and you. No longer is there a vast gulf of separation between you and your loving Father. Just as the divide between God and His children is no longer, it is to be the same for you and your brethren in the church of Jesus Christ. Not only your local congregation or other believers you associate with but the entire family of God. No matter their gender, age, or nationality all His children are in this circle of peace (see Revelation 7:9-10). Peace is God’s promise and to those who respond to His promise by trusting in His Son Jesus, will find true peace. Jesus said that you would know His disciples by their love for each other (see John 13:35). The way you interact with your brothers and sisters in Christ as you minister to them shows the love of God in you, which in turn will cause them to react in peace to you, also. Hostility is the opposite of peace and the world is hostile to things of God. They do not understand the peace of God that as a believer in the Son, you have (Philippians 4:7) The way you interact with your brothers and sisters in Christ as you minister to them shows the love of God in you, which in turn will cause them to react in peace to you, also.
For Thought:
1. God gives you His peace as you faithfully live your life for Him.
2. Do you act in love to others in Christ?
3. Sometimes believers operate in the flesh and miss the blessings of peace God gives. Are you one and are you ready to work in the Spirit?
Ask God to show you His peace in your life by giving all to Him. Look to Jesus and His example of the way you should love those in the church. Ask the Holy Spirit to work within you giving you boldness to show loving-kindness to those who need it most.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27 NASB)
