Jesus Is My Bread of Life

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. (John 6:35 ESV)

Many are seeking answers to the meaning of life. Wondering what is the reason for their existence. Searching for the pleasures, this world has to offer in order to be whole or complete. As you live your day-to-day life, you too, may have these same thoughts. Working hard to pay the bills, daily struggles to protect your family from the dangers of this world, or being a teen trying to resist the pressure of your peers to do things you know in your heart are wrong. In these circumstances, you may find yourself being a “seeker” also. The answers you seek can be found in the Bible and any struggle you have will find the solution in Jesus. God, in His infinite wisdom, created you to be relational which is why you feel comfort when gathering with others. However, you were also created to have a relationship with God. That relationship was to be one of continual fellowship and worship of the Father but in the garden, the relationship between God and man was corrupted due to sin. Yet, even though sin entered the world because of Adam. Salvation is from the second Adam, Jesus (Romans 5:17). Now this life is full of struggles and to seek the answers in life all you have to do is look to the cross. Jesus is that which takes away your hunger and gives you life. The spirit in you craves this and as you commune with your Savior, you will find complete satisfaction. Jesus is the food and drink for your spirit. There is no life, no health, no joy, and no purpose apart from Jesus. For in Christ, your soul rests, as you understand the eternal relationship you have with the Father. With Jesus, you find real food. The food that fills the pains of hunger, in your soul, because of grace that saves from sin and death. Jesus not only gives you bread of life but is THE bread of life. This bread is what your spirit hungers for and only in Christ will you be satisfied. When you truly understand that you need only Jesus to survive in this world, you will find true joy and peace. Not only will you be at peace within but also you will show peace as you go about your day-to-day activities. Those around you will discover love as you reflect the love of Jesus in all you do. As you show the face of Jesus in your actions, others will begin to ask what makes you different. Then you will have the opportunity to present the gospel in words and deeds. It is the way you live your life that allows others to hear the words you speak. In this others will see the Veritas of  belief and it all begins as you partake of the bread and water that gives life everlasting.

For Thought:
1.    What do you seek in this life; money, power, love, or contentment?
2.    Can you believe Jesus will supply all your needs?
3.    Are you able to testify to the wonderful bread Christ gives you?

While in prayer today ask God to search your heart. Ask the Father to show you His forgiveness for living a life that has not put Him first. Be still and ask your Heavenly Father to teach you how to survive only on the bread and water Jesus will give and not on the things of this world. Repent from the fleshly desires this world offers you and seek only Jesus and a life telling others of the salvation offered to those whom believe.

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
(John 6:51 ESV)
