2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. [Hebrews 12:2 EVS]
As I am sure you have discovered with your own life, love is costly. It is costly because love is based on self-denial and at times its pain will cause suffering and at other times love is full of joy. It is because of love that Jesus went to the Cross and because of love He endured the pain of the Cross. Rest assured the love of the Lord is better than life itself (see Psalm 63:3) and having that love in your heart along with the gift of the Holy Spirit will enable you to live the life that your Savior wants you to. Jesus was not concerned about His faith since He was keenly aware of who He is and the mission to be done. It was our faith Jesus Christ was concerned about and we are able to see the faith of Christ in action throughout His Ministry. This is why He had to go to the Cross. Thus, Jesus is the author of our faith and the example, which we are to live by. The death on the Cross was not the end of the Messiah’s work but the beginning. The finished work was in the resurrection and such becomes the beginning of our faith. It is with true joy, satisfaction that you can know Jesus authored your faith, and by trusting in that faith you can live a life which set is the example to live that Jesus has given us. Honor God by serving Him. You do this in your Christian walk and your service to others. Remember Jesus set the example for us to live life and treat others.
For Thought:
1. When was the last time you thought about the work Jesus did for you on the Cross?
2. By living as Christ wants you to, you honor Him as the founder and perfecter of your faith.
As you seek the mind of God today ask Him to show you how He wants you to live out your faith. Ask God to give you the direction and wisdom to walk as Jesus did. Pray that others you know may live in the faith God has given through His Son.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” [John 10:27-30]
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also; the body they may kill; God's truth abideth still; his kingdom is forever. Martin Luther
This truth is Christ died for you and with the Holy Spirit in you, you will live forever with Him.
You may be here, facing delays or disappointments or even the subtle fear of death. Well, but He is here to show you what faith in a living God can do for you. He is here to help you as none else can do, to begin, to continue, and to end, in the faith that overcomes the world.
James Moffatt, Glasgow, Scotland, 1920
