22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”(Matt 21:22 ESV)
All blessings come from God and prayer is one of those blessings. Knowing this helps you understand that prayer is not a work within your own strength but comes from the Holy Spirit that dwells in you. Keeping this in mind, if your spiritual life is not what it should be then neither will your prayer life. God desires your walk to be one which is continually seeking Him. You are to live a life that gives glory to God and the only way you can do this is on your knees. It is in prayer that you seek to live as God wants you to. As you ask God on the behalf of others, the Holy Spirit can work in you. It is in prayer that produces a powerful influence in your life. Prayer is a spiritual discipline that is life changing and holy living brings holy prayers.
26 At the same time the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know how to pray for what we need. But the Spirit intercedes along with our groans that cannot be expressed in words. (Romans 8:26 GNT)
Even when you struggle to know God’s will in your life and know not what to pray for, the Spirit does. Thus, just begin by worshiping God and before you recognize it, you are in communion with the Father. Take all to God in prayer, from the biggest problems to the small decisions, take them to the Father. As you are faithful in your prayer life, you will begin to see a difference in your actions. For as you concentrate on intercession for others your life begins to focus less on yourself.
For Thought:
1. Keeping a prayer journal will help remind you of prayer request and answered prayer.
2. As a loving Father, God wants a relationship with you and prayer is the communication aspect of that relationship.
3. It is through prayer that mountains can be moved and faith increased to the point of slaying giants.
As you begin your time with God today, seek Him and His desire for you. Ask God to point you to that which He wants you to pray. Let the Holy Spirit speak for you, as you set aside your own self, and He works in you and speaks for you. Then seek to glorify God in your prayer as you speak on the behalf or others. Finally, give God a chance to work in your life through answered prayer. Ask Him even in the smallest of request. Always seek out God and pray.
It is a common temptation of Satan to make us give up the reading of the Word and prayer when our enjoyment is gone; as if it were of no use to read the Scriptures when we do not enjoy them, and as if it were no use to pray when we have no spirit of prayer.
