Adam and Eve
Psalm 8:5-6
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: [KJV]
Adam and Eve were created to be God’s visible representatives on earth and as such to be rulers over all God’s creation. Mankind is not an outflow of God, thus not a part of divinity. Man does not know all and is not able to do all. Therefore it was in His image you were created and are set apart from all other aspects of Creation. Yet, since you are created in God’s image you will find your identity when fulfilling God’s plan. For you have been given the ability to reason and think which is something only you of all creatures have and this sets you apart from them. Your life consists of much more than finding satisfaction in meeting the needs of clothing, food, and pleasure, for all creatures search for these needs. Your needs are met as you understand that you exist only because someone far greater than yourself brought you into being. In this you are to worship God. And this is what pleases God with you above all the rest of His creation.
Psalm 100: 3-5
3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. [NIV]
For Thought:
1. As you think on God’s Creation and the fact of mankind being the greatest act of that Creation, do you wonder at the magnificent glory all this earth brings forth?
2. Do you see the responsibility God has given you to preserve His Creation and in your love for Him look forward to serving Him as He desires and be in His will?
Romans 8:29-30
29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. [ESV]
In solitude:
As you seek God’s thoughts while spending time with Him in prayer, ask God for understanding to know that His plan from the very beginning of Creation is being carried out in His perfect order and that you are an important part of that order. May you carry out the purpose God has designed for you in this life as He has called you unto Himself. Then sing to God that which is commonly called:
“The Doxology”
