The past evenings during the week of September 21 to 24 have been spent on the beach of St. Simons Island with Laurie and two very good friends. We sat on the beach watching the sun set and moon rise. At the same time the tide was creating large waves due to storm activity in the Atlantic.
While sitting with our friends we began discussing the wonder of the moon's pull on the tide which led us to speak of God's magnificent Creation and how God placed this planet in the spot he wanted it to be and formed it perfectly so life would grow here. Then how He placed the moon just in the right position to pull the tides and create the motion God desired for this planet to sustain life.
In the book of Job, beginning in Chapter 38 God speaks out of the whirlwind and asks Job, "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?" And God also asked Job "who shut in the sea with doors when it burst out from the womb." Continually God questions Job and in Chapter 39 He asks Job "Do you give the horse his might? Do you clothe his neck with a mane? Do you make him leap like the locust? Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars and spreads his wings toward the south? Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up and makes his nest on high?"
All these questions God brings so Job will get a clear understanding of the power and majesty of the Creator of this Universe. In Chapter 40 Job understands and realizes that he would be foolish to even respond to God's question. By putting his hand over his mouth Job is telling God and us that we do not even have the right to question the justice of our God. Job understands that God is God and the sun will bear down on the just as well as the unjust for His ways are not the same as ours.
It brings me to the point of wonder at the beauty and majesty of it all. The beautiful colors of the sunset. Following the moonbeam on the water as it travels to you. The blue haze on the blue ridge mountains.
My Holy God will not allow Himself to come face to face with a sinner so He sent His Son, His Holy and Sinless Son to die on the Cross and on the third day to rise from the grave to sit at the right hand of God, just so my sin past, present, and future will be covered by the blood of Jesus. Because of this, I have been called to Him to stand in His presence to give glory to God forever and ever. And to give glory to His Creation and His Majesty and all the beauty of both.
